🎼 A Musical Journey Across Continents

Travel the globe through music at Liberty Village Park with an evening of vibrant orchestral favourites inspired by rivers, harbours, dance, and cultural storytelling. Summer Sounds Around the World invites audiences on a musical journey spanning continents and traditions, celebrating the movement, colour, and spirit of place through unforgettable melodies and rhythms.

The program includes regal charm of Handel’s Water Music, Suite No. 2, written for a royal journey along the River Thames, and continues eastward to the evocative seascapes of Elizabeth Raum’s Halifax Harbour, a musical portrait of Canada’s storied Atlantic coast. Smetana’s sweeping Moldau follows the course of a river through the Czech countryside in richly expressive detail, while Strauss II’s beloved Blue Danube Waltz captures the elegance and romance of Europe’s most famous river.

The journey expands with Bizet’s fiery Carmen Overture, brimming with Spanish flair and operatic drama, and Márquez’s electrifying Danzón No. 2, a celebration of Latin American dance rhythms that pulses with warmth, energy, and irresistible vitality. Gather under the summer sky for an evening of music that crosses borders and brings the world a little closer through sound.
